I know this may sound niave but is it possible to open up a 2003 project in VS2005 and keep it in 1.1 framework? Also, If you do have a 1.1 project open and are ready to build, is it possible to use a particular framework to compile other than 2.0?

I dont think so you can able to open up a 2003 project as it is in 2005 coz as soon as you open the project 2005 is going to convert the whole project to 2005. I am not sure about your second question as far as I know there is 1.1 Framework and 2.0 Framework I dont know what you mean by other than 2.0

This is kind of a pain as people wanting to maintain projects for clients that don't yet want to upgrade their framework must keep a version of Visual Studio 2003 on their machine (or even the 2002 version).

I really wish they would make their product downward compatible. Right now, the dll hell has been replaced with a framework hell.
