Post subject: Rendering of Autocomplete in IE vs. FF

Gentlemen, dear Michael

we are very happy with the Autocomplete Example - it works nearly perfect. Respect for that work tugh it is just an example !

However we encounter following effect that we canot explain yet.

If you wrap your example in your Autocomplete.aspx Page into a HTML Fliedset Tag and a Table then the vertical position offeset in IE6 is not rendered correct. In FF it is rendered fine.

Here the example code to get the effect in your example page:

<fieldset>
<legend>Text with Offset Problem </legend>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<p>Customer: <input type="text" id="searchCustomerID" /></p>
</td>
<td>
<p>OrderNumber: <input type="text" id="searchOrder" /> </p>

</td>
</tr>
</table>
</fieldset>

In FF/Mozilla the offset are fine. But in a clean, patched IE6 there is the vertical offset failer.

In our researches we found that the height of the <legend> Tag is not defined in the HTML Standards and therefore rendered different in different browsers.

So the dynamic rendering function in Mr. Schwarz's dll that checks the nested objects in the DOM to calcualte the offeset could handle this -
but where in the code do we have to change that ?

Any idea where to search the problem ?

felix
